Exactly. So, in my opinion, that makes it much easier to just cut your losses and move on. I mean, I'm not suggesting the OP close the window completely. Nail it shut. Weld it permanently closed, never to be opened again. I'm just saying, probably better to move on and assume it is never going to happen. At the same time, you can certainly leave the opportunity open so if SHE happens to reach back out and say she wants to date, you certainly could take that opportunity if you were still interested by then.

I'm just saying, in situations like that it is better to assume that it is their secret code for "I'm not interested" and thereby just move on. You may be proven wrong later, and then that's great.... BUT... If you wait around hoping they truly will become interested later, you'll usually just wind up wasting your time.
