my heart beats on and on

ive written several poems for my gf and she seems to like them but im not sure if its just because she is being nice. this is one of the poems, please tell me what you think.

My heart beats on and on
    Like a raging flame
    It lurches in inconsistent rhythms
    Completely devoid of all order
    How disturbed my heart is
Shaken up by something so wonderful
My heart is torn in two
    Destroyed by the past
    Shredded by the present
Some how it keeps on beating
A driving force allowing it to keep going
    This force is hope
Hope of a future much better than this
    This is my heart
    It beats for you

    thanks.

the SA node has an intrinsic capacity to send 'electrical' impulese that spread to the purkinge fibres, and this results in, the heart beat - a good thing!

(That would be the electrical conductivity i noted above)

No. It's actually the 'rush' of sodium and calcium that generate 'gradients' across the cell membranes. and the 'heart beat', is the result of the 'potential' energey 'created' by these gradients. Hope has NOTHING to do with it.

seems more of a psychological as oppose to 'biomedical' poem.

No. It beats for YOU, and only YOU. The earlier you realise this, the MORE happier you would be.

hey, shh! if you ever need help, or have a question, then don't be afraid to PM me, i'll do my best to answer. of course, you'd email you professor, but just incase, PM me too, i may be able to shed light on the subject from the perspective of a 'student', so it might make sense.

i majored in biology, with emphasis on physiology, so i 'should' be able to answer basic questions. and even if i don't know the answer, i'd look it up for you ---> (i'm a nerd when it comes to that kind of stuff).

will you look up some stuff for me too?

it doesn't have much to do with physiology though.

Well, RSK, since youre gonna be a doc I'm gonna force you to be precise. What you said needs revising. What about potassium? Think about how digoxin works... The concepts are there, but your causality is a little off. Its not the rush that causes the gradient. Go get Guyton and read up!

    Interesting poem, BTW.

    whoa!

actually, potassium DOES play a role! how did you know about fox glove?

i am going to quiz YOU now....what is the mechanism of action, for Atropine?
and, what do you know about the platue on the ECG for the heart beat, and it's relation to calcium, and it's channels?

who are you? who sent you?

Skrat, your the one that just gone done saying you talk with big words and your girlfriend doesn't understand you.....From that poem it doesn't sound that way at all.

my poetry makes sense or so id like to think. it has nothing to do with how i usually speak with her or others. one reason she says she likes them is because they make sense to her. idk. id just like opinions on the quality of it.

Who am I? Someone trying to learn about love. Noone sent me except myself

I think you're asking my profession. If you think back to previous posts, you already know the answer. I told you (sort of) where I went to school and what I do. As for your questions, I already know the answers, its YOU who has to go study! If you haven't yet discovered the ncbi.nih.gov sites (medline, etc.) you should do so ASAP. And regarding the EKG/ECG stuff, I said, its all there in Guyton.

Well then that's how you should speak to her. Poems are about expressing yourself and you seem to know how to write them down ok!
