Asking girls out...

Story:

Halloween, 2005 I meet this girl at a party. We start talking music, we shortly find out that we have a lot in common, we like the same bands, we were apparently in the same talent show in high school ( I won first, she won second ( oops lol ) )we even have the SAME birthday! Crazy. Anyway, so the party is dieing down and I get her phone number and i'm like "well i'm gonna go ahead and walk home now." And she's all "ok i'll come with." So we walk home to my house, and we get there and she wants to watch some aqua teen hunger force. So we watch some cartoons, talk a little more, then she makes a phone call and says that she has plans and she leaves. Ok, so what happened there. Was I too boring? It seemed like she wanted to hook up with me because why else would she just walk me home. But I didn't want to just straight up ask her to mate right there, because I like this girl and I don't want to come off as a horny bastard. So, a few days later I give her a call and invite her to come bowling with my roomate, his gf and I. She comes, we have a good time, she's acting kinda quiet the whole time, sort of like she was nervous. Then we hung out again the other day, went on a hike, went out to lunch, she was hella quiet again. So I guess what I want to know is what should I do next? Should I just straight up ask her "Hey, how do you feel about us being together?" We haven't kissed yet, she always gives me a hug when I drop her off. I don't want to fall into the "friend" category, what i'm really saying here is i'm bad at getting to the "bf/gf" phase, always have been. I've had 2 serious girlfriends, and both of them were an interesting start.

I would say take your time to get to know her. Even though you dont want to fall into the "friend" but the best relationships are based upon friendship. Take her out on a date and something romantic... and make it look like you made an effort. That will show her you like her more than a friend.

i've actually been in two relationships where there was no question involved, so it is possible. I dunno, the question is always the hardest part for me, never seems like the right time, then whenever i drop her off i'm like "dammit you idiot, you didn't ask her, oh well, maybe next time." And i'm 21, and we were watching aqua teen hunger force, it's a cartoon we both like.
