Trying to Understand

My boyfriend of 4.5 years is constantly wanting to buy newer and better cars. I do not understand why? He just got a better job and was thinking about moving out but somewhat discovered that some places are too expensive or he does not want to move out into particular places because it is not exactly what he wants. So he decided that it would be a good idea to buy a newer, faster car. He has not bought it, however this is making me frustrated because I dont understand why he wants a new car about every two years. I do not want to go through this again. I am starting to figure that I am not a priority to him anymore. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

let the man spend his money however he wants. I'm sure he doesn't tell you not to buy that prada bag (or whatever that purse is with the little C's all over it and cost like $200) or expensive shoes. As long as he pays the bills and treats you right, I don't see what the problem is.

though, of course, there could be more to the story, like if he's totally obsessed with it to the point that he ignores her, or he's being financially reckless, etc.

Dose he race? Is it his hobby to build cars? Dose he enjoy driving on the track? Or dose he just buy cars, for no obvious reason? If its the last then he might have some serious self esteem issues or hes trying to impress somone and you should be worried.

Well moving out is a big step, and can be super expensive if you are very picky. So, he might as well enjoy having the money now and getting a new car every couple of yrs, because once he gets older and settles down, hes not always gonna be able to have that luxury, unless he makes some fat cash.

Thanks for the advice. I understand where you all stand. I think he is really into cars and thats cool with me, just that, yes sometimes, the cars are more important that me, I feel. He claims not, but actions speak louder than words. I am trying to understand why this happens from a guy's perspective. BTW, I dont buy $200 purses or shoes, it is not worth it to me. I'd rather have deep relationships than possesions.
