This really hits home for me. I was on the fence between liberal arts and engineering. I very nearly went to Virginia Tech. In fact, not only did my grandparents attend Virginia Tech, but they still live in Blacksburg.

I'm not a religious man, but if there is a God, and if there is a Hell, I hope it's every bit as horrible as the Bible depicts and then some, and I hope that son of a bitch is screaming his lungs out right this minute and will continue to do so for all of eternity.

Such a devastating and senseless crime, and yes, I wish there were better gun control laws (whether or not this sorry excuse for a person had them legally).
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

All I can think about everytime this happens is that there's some other messed up kid or person thats watching this that is getting ideas.

    And the cycle continues.

Screw the goddamn right to bear arms.

No what, Fras? You don't agree w/my comment about the right to bear arms?

And then you watch videos like the one with the two kids shooting the iPod in the other forum there, and you still think everyone should be allowed to own a weapon? There are bored, stupid, dumbass, backwards hick people out there with a closet full of guns they're allowed to have 'just because'....that scares the crap out of me. Why doesn't that scare you?

Because if I wanted to, I could assemble my own closet full of guns.

i heard about this at work.

every time i hear about something like this, people blame guns. guns don't kill people. PEOPLE kill people. the gun is just the object used to kill someone.

if it wasn't a gun, it could've been a bomb, knife, a rock, anything that can be used to harm someone.

i own several guns. i own a ]rifle[ as well as a p230 (which is a hand gun) and i don't think about killing people. guns are not easy to purchase. you have to have a carrier's license to own a hand gun legally (and in a lot of places, hand guns are illegal)

ever notice how most of these killings aren't "dumbass backwards hick people", these are people who gain access guns illegally/that they don't own.

I wonder what the media will lay the blame on this time. Video games? Comic books? Dungeons & Dragons? Maybe he had an iPod and some of the songs contained racy lyrics.

If it had been a knife he might have killed one or two, but he certainly wouldn't have killed 30+. And maybe, just maybe someone would have gotten the knife away from him and beat his sorry ass to death.

How exactly would you assemble a closet-full of guns, Fras? Guns capable of rapidly firing multiple rounds, mind you. Yeah, maybe you could rig some kind of pipe-gun, and maybe it'd actually work and you'd get off a shot or two, but how could you build something that would come close to a 9mm automatic?

i'm not sure how these things can cause violence. i grew up with gory violent videogames, reading porn and comics, AND i own the limited edition Dungeons and Dragons movie.

well yea, but a bomb could kill 30+ if not more.

and you really don't have the right to ask this question, because you still have to tell me how to make a green laser. oh and it has to be hand-held

No shit people kill people. But why give them a better method to do it with?

PS A few of these killings have been by kids who steal their parents legal weapons (conveniently loaded!) stored in unlocked cabinets.

I stand by my conviction that people who own guns are paranoid hicks. There is no reason to own one unless you hunt. Period.
