The only one of those bands I haven't seen in Soundgarden.

Saw one of STPs only gigs in the UK way back in 1998 I think it was.

    Showing my age.

The 90s was the best for Alt Rock ... could throw in Faith no More, Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Nirvana into that list too.

As for classical music, have you ever been to the proms? I go most years; been to two already this year and have one more.

Unfotunately, I tend to refer to the Proms as 'Top of The Tops' of Classical music, as it only tends to have more 'mainstream' and well known pieces/composers.

I haven't. I was planning to go this summer but not had the chance yet. I've liked classical music for some time, but only have really taken to it in the last 3 1/2 years. So I'm still learning what I like and don't like. I assume you prefer less mainstream classical? What do you listen to?

Lucky enough to have seen them both :o) One of the benefit of living in London.

I guess looking young and being young aren't quite the same ;o)

Better to look young, rather than old before your time I guess.

And what is it that you like so far?

Well, Proms this year I have been to a performance of Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe suite, one of my favourites, Bartok's 2nd Piano Concerto, which I love (although most people would rather listen to cat's ripping each other's eyes out), and also have Holst's Planets to look forward to in a couple of weeks.

In terms of what I listen to, out of the better known composers, Vaughan Williams, Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Bartok, Respighi etc. Although even then I am quite selective about what it is of theirs I enjoy.

In terms of less 'well known' composers, the likes of John Adams and Einojunhani Rautavaara, both modern day, and still alive, are perhaps two that I listen to the most.

Too true. I was still getting carded when I was 32!

I like Bach, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Debussy and Liszt. I like piano and strings, so on the lookout for anything different. I prefer moody or thought provoking music. I wasn't exposed to classical much in my life, luckily a few friends have peaked my interest.

I was hoping to go to the Holst's Planets, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it.
