    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

Authorities are considering charges in the bizarre case of a woman who stayed in her boyfriend's bathroom for two years, spending most of her time on the toilet - so that her body was stuck to the seat by the time the man finally called police.

It appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman's skin had grown around the seat, said Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple. The woman initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital.

    [...]

McFarren, 36, told investigators he took Babcock food and water and asked her every day to come out of the bathroom.

"And her reply would be, 'Maybe tomorrow,'" Whipple said. "According to him, she did not want to leave the bathroom."
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Its a bit scary, isn't it? What with those new GM robotic vehicles, & creating 'new life' a la Craig Venter/Celara. If you're interested in the crazy stuff they are doing (or like being frightened) check out his recent talk for TED (Vash, you mentioned TED, so you might be interested too).

If you're into making money, tho, you might also check it out. They are aggressively trying to engineer bugs that can make things like energy dense fuel alternatives (i.e. better than maize derived ethanol). If they succeed they'll make a ton of it.

"She is an adult; she made her own decision. It was my fault I should have gotten help for her sooner; I admit that. But after a while, you kind of get used to it," McFarren said.

"It just kind of happened one day. She went in and had been in there a little while, the next time it was a little longer. Then she got it in her head she was going to stay - like it was a safe place for her," McFarren said.

    Heh heh

I always wondered what it might be like flushing your life down the toilet

yeah, but honestly it's not hard around here for a human to start a fire. our climate is so dry. there are dry pine leaves everywhere, dry leaves. tbh i've almost started a forest fire. thank god i didn't, but it almost happened when we were backpacking. we were a days hike into the mountains and nobody was around.

i started a campfire and the guys didn't put it out properly. i woke up to mikey screaming for everyone to get up. "holy ****ing shit you guys get up!!!!!"

we woke up to burning embers covering the ground, and black smoking piles of leaves. we all got up and had to take turns running to the river to get more water. we pounded on the earth with our bare hands and feet to get it out. mikey stepped into a pile of leaves that was burning black and burnt his foot, but it was dark and we wouldn't have even known it was there unless he stepped in it.

it was scary as hell. all i could think was, if this fire gets out of control, there is no way we're going to be getting out of here.

very frightening. now when i start a fire i make sure to put it out myself and not depend on anyone else to do it. you have to be incredibly vigilant to not start a fire.

i feel bad for people around here who start them. i would hate to be in that position.
