We are surrounded by orange groves (and other small farms), too. I agree, nothing like fresh-squeezed!

Oh we also have a large Amish community in our area. Wonderful stuff they make. We've but theyre peanutbutters, theyre pickles, etc. Awesome! We do get over to their stands and probably making a bigger effort to get there more often. They can so many veggies along with selling their fresh veggies. Their jellies are awesome too.
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.

I think Chris likes the idea of not eating foods that are pumped with insectides and antibiotics.
I should also add that a lot of farms are fertilized or watered with natural elements that often contain these things, which can be absorbed by the produce anyway.

As to whether this is any better or worse than having the chemicals directly applied, I am uncertain.

Keep a mind for a healthy lifestyle and the most important element, which I feel, is to read.

mc donalds is so nasty. it's total barf in some bright yellow box.

if you would give that up, you'd find yourself a lot healthier just by stopping eating that nasty gruel mc donalds serves.

If we have fast food, it is usually El Pollo Loco. Yummy. Fire-roasted chicken and freshly-made salsa. Do you guys have that in your part of the country?

Those burgers have never seen a bit of beef in it's life. I don't know if anyone noticed, but it's actually the sauce that gives it flavour. If you ate it without the sauce you'd notice it tastes like nothing. Plus, the way some people make the food...

I make salsa, too, but only in the summer. I don't know why. I make guacamole, too. I've never fried my own chips, though.

Hey - do you put lime in your salsa?

sometimes. usually my recipe is pretty simple...

    tomatoes
    jalapeños
    garlic
    cilantro
    salt.

nothing fancy at all. homemade chips are the best. once you have them, you'll never buy a bag of tortilla chips again.

We buy ours from a Hispanic market, and I think they fry them on site. They are waaayy better than what you can buy at the grocery store.

that's cool. i've thought about starting a business making chips and salsa and selling them and stuff.

thing is around here nobody wants to give you refrigerator space unless you have lots of money to pay for it. otherwise you have to use preservatives.

i'd still buy chips because i'm too lazy to make them myself.

also... where's the pepper and vinegar in your salsa??

I put tomato, green chiles, jalapeno, onion, cilantro, lime, and salt. Pepper and vinegar? It is obvious you don't make salsa, raverboy.
