    When will my shoulder heal?!?!

ARGHHhghgh. I sprained my shoulder on 4/27/08 very badly. I thought I broke my collar bone or something since it felt that bad. I went to the doctor and the told my I tore my ligament. They gave me Vicodin and Ibuprofen to deal with the pain.

At first I wasn't able to lift my hand above my head. Now I got almost all mobility back. I still can't lift it up all the way straight armed above my head but I learned to deal with it. I hear that the healing of a sprained shoulder could take up to 4-6 weeks.. almost up to a year to heal for more serious sprains. I really hope mine doesn't take that long to heal.

Anyways I want to start exercising and working out again since I haven't lately due to my shoulder. I was wondering what kind of exercises I could possibly do with my sprained shoulder that wouldn't slow the healing process down or make it worse. I want to work on my arms and upper body. I hope that isn't out of the question.

Anyone here ever had a sprained shoulder? Any tips on speeding up the healing process? How long did it take your sprains to heal? I think a problem I have is that I always sleep on my shoulder unintentionally. I wake up the next morning in pain sometimes. So that may be one cause of the slow healing 0_o.
Yehh.. Any tips or advice and exercises would help!

you could try doing windmills with your arm. any simple exercise that you are able to do... no weights.

no idea when it will heal. but probably a month or two before you can start lightweight training again.

umm... if you torn your ligament it would take a lot longer than a few weeks to heal. the ligaments in your body are a lot stronger then your muscles. they are extremely dense because they connect bone matter to bone matter.

it's a good thing that you had seen your doctor, but is most cases, you might need surgery for these sorts of matter. better get a second opinion if i'm not mistaken. but then again, i never tore a ligament before.
