My girlfriend sucked a lollipop a while back during our conversation. Those slurpy sucking noises - sexy. I doubt she sucks her thumb, but if she did, I'd ween her off of it with something else

Oh lord...its obvious I didn't mean any harm. I could say alot worse if I wanted to stur up emotions. However, that doesn't seem hard to do on this forum.

I ask the question because I read an article that Angelina is trying to get one of her kids to stop and know adults who do and I know it must be like a comforting thing but I heard that it could mean that the person has emotional issues or something. Of course its normal for a child but once you reach a certain age...

I do and I've known others also. It's a very effective tension reliever and, unlike smoking and overeating, doesn't intefere with others nor is it unhealthy (for the great majority of thumb suckers). In fact, compared to most "adult" tension relievers, it's usually a lot more convenient, legal, and inexpensive. Too bad about the social acceptance though. If not for the robotic and automated thought patterns surrounding this innocent and quiet habit us adult thumb suckers would be a lot more obvious.

There's a website thumbsuckingadults dot c that aptly proves that this isn't as rare as you'd have ordinarily concluded. Too bad it's so irrationally unacceptable, even more so than smoking, amazingly.

as an adult, i must say... Our hands get too dirty... Even after washing them, i know where they've been. Garbage disposals, garbage cans, my butt (to wipe), plus dusty and dirty things at stores, car parts covered in grease. Even after washing them, i just know =)

Plus, i think it weird. But no, i don't know any adults that suck their thumbs. Interestingly though, i know this girl that cups her boobs for the same reason... takes all types i guess
