A Question for Our Swedish Members-

I came across an article that cited Sweden as the country (as of 2000) with the most (reported I suppose), rapes.

Could you provide any insight on this?

The statement is towards the bottom.

I bet the other swedes are busy chewing on meatballs and guzzling Kopparbergs cider.

Rapes per 100,000 women mapped out shows that among others - the U.S., Canada, Australia, southern Africa, Sweden have the world's highest rates of rape (over 4 per 10,000).
Bloody annoying format, this states that Sweden is on the top of the list and not just among those countries, right? But yeah, I can't really tell where they got that figure or interpretation from, apart from an occasional news-story of some guy raping a woman or two in a park at night it's really not anything that you hear about or notice.

It turns out that the swedish law classifies rape as being the same as "sexual abuse", which has been a bit mismatched with how it is to be interpreted, and add to that a country where most people would go to the cops and get protection rather than suffer in silence and voilá, numbers go up.

Another link would be the muslim communities here because of being generally welcoming of refugees, who are believed to remain quiet about it if it was to occur in their home countries yet have no need to be silent in Sweden. The same thing has been said to occur in Norway.

    Huh.

    That's interesting.

Seemed like a strange thing for Sweden to rank high in, but I suppose if classification of what rape is differs from country to country, I can see how it could skew the results.

Wouldn't you know, the only class I passed with great scores in my single semester of school, was sociology.

Hehe, I wonder what position do countries like Iran stand on that list?

I bet the official number of rape incidents there is very close or equal to 0, similar to official number of gay people

    To elaborate.

"The greatest rise of this type of rape has taken place between 2004 and 2006 and this could be explained by the new legislation which now categorizes minor assaults as rape too", says Klara Hradilova Selin of Brĺ.
Actually I just found a site operated by criminals back in sweden that give out names of child rapists back there, makes me feel bloody annoyed with how many bastards there are who deserve to rot in a jail cell.
