God knows what's going to happen in the next 6 months or year. No one can see what's going to happen that far. Which is why I say right now is not the time to get a loan.

    Meh.

    F*ck it.

I might as well get a new car that the new government can bail me out for.

If anything, I'm in one of the best places to be. New Orleans was already sheltered from some of the effects of last year. Depending on how things go with this reconstruction plan, we may not be disrupted all that much at all.

In any case, we have a big government job coming up. Clearly, they're the ones holding all the money.

If you buy a Hyundai and you lose your job, they'll take it back.

Then again, if you keep your job, you're stuck with a Hyundai.

Actually, it's not. You pulling your own credit report is fine. It isn't an application of credit. However applying to 8 places for a loan to find the best rate will hurt you.

If you buy a Hyundai at sticker price... And actually Hyundai's have been going up both in initial build quality, comfort, and reliability for years. They're not bad cars for the money.

I'd rather go buy something else personally, but still not a bad price.

I have less of chance of losing my job than some of you, whether you'd like to believe it or not.

And even if I did, I'm virtually privy to any building trade. I don't care if I have to start from the bottom of being a plumber, HVAC, carpenter, roofer, mason, auto tech, welder, landscaper, painter, building maintenance, fire alarm tech, whatever.

In any case, I'm back to looking at the 2009 Honda Fit. I always come back to this car. As I said earlier, I wouldn't consider a loan until I got another raise (which is due May).

I actually quite liked the Honda Fit when I was driving it. It would make a good commuter car.

Until you get hit by the idiot woman driving the bus-sized SUV, on the phone, trying to keep the kid quiet, while eating, and putting on makeup...

    Can you say squish?
