    Silence and silence

I have a simple issue, I think. I have a girlfriend of two years, and she's living with me temporarily. I think it's a great relationship. However she engages in certain tactics whenever we have a fight. Last week, we were late for church and she began bossing me in her demand (of me) to get ready on time. On 95% of prospective outings, I end up waiting for her as she uses make up and spruces herself up. So my self-talk has always been, "Why hurry up?"

At any rate, I got upset and told her not to yell at me or talk me down like I'm her son. I almost declined going to church because of her nagging. After church, we got home, and I tried to kiss her and hug her. Guess what? She told me off demanding that I leave her alone. I begged her and she insisted. She began ignoring me and just minding her own business. No "welcome" when I get back in, no goodnight pleasantries, etc.

Indeed, I've been responding to her in kind and only saying the minimum necessary. It's been two days now.

My argument is as such: I tried to get a friendly and jovial environment going, and she told me off. I don't feel I'm obligated to coax or appease her anymore. She has to appease me. During our disagreement, I didn't call her names or abuse her? So why the cold treatment? I'm also prepared to continue with her in this walk in the cold even it means the end of the relationship. I can't date a child. She's 22 by the way.

    What do you think?

I think church makes lots of people grumpy.

I'm interested to see who wins this childish battle of wills. Well, sort of interested.

You called her out on her behaviour and now she's embarrassed and miffed.

Do you know what a 'graceful out' is? She needs one.

You are kidding, right? One grumpy day, and you are willing to call it quits?

I honestly wouldn't take bets on who the bigger child is.

A graceful out doesn't mean break up, silly.
