I hate how "adults" "hang out".

They have cute little barbecues, or little parties and drink beer or wine.

Talk about there jobs and tell stupid politically correct jokes.

Go downtown to the bar and listen to shitty live music nobody cares for.

They play board or card games and it's all just supposed to be intellectually witty and stimulating.

Or when was the last time you played tag, or hide and go seek?

What about driving around and telling racist and sexist jokes on the way to IHOP at 1 in the morning?

    Adults are so gay.

And by adults I mid early to mid 20 year olds?

    Go have fun dammit.

I have never felt games like tag and hide and go seek have lost their fun factor do to age.

But noooo, we're all mature 20 year olds now, lets read books and discuss worldly views! What a joy! Look at me I drink sophisticated drinks and wear nice clothes, and act proper all the time!

    Faggots, all of them.

Either they're all a bunch of insecure snobs, or they're pot smoking loser hippies.

This happens to everyone. I remember when I first had my kids, I thought I would go crazy with boredom of the women I felt obligated to hang with. Eventually I found a couple of friends that I genuinely liked, and we are friends to this day. You've just got to be patient and keep putting yourself out there.

Have you thought about joining some sort of club? I mean, my sister is a runner. She belongs to a running club. You might have better luck finding people you like if you are proactive about determining what exactly you would like to do with them.

I bet you wold like paint-ball. You'd get to do the hide-and-go seek bit.

Or try looking at Habitat for Humanity in your area. You like volunteer work, and I think they have a higher-than average number of male volunteers who probably share your ideals. http://www.habitat-nola.org

    Depends on where you're playing.

Anyway, my point is that I hate how adults interact.

I miss the playground days where you need someone else to play so you pick one out of the crowd regardless of their political affiliations, wages, and dietary habits. All you needed to know was how fast they ran.

I found my interests have just changed over time. I enjoy sitting at Starbucks with a friend and laughing over stupid shit, or talking about important issues in our lives. What's wrong with having discussions about things you're interested in, be it sports or politics, or academia? Some people DO find that really, truly enjoyable. I'd rather have a few pints and laughs with some friends at a cozy Irish bar and be in bed by 11 for lots of lovely sleep, than do the old 19-yr-old thing of clubbing til 3 am and driving around looking for a Denny's to soak up my liquor with greasy food, and then getting home by 6 am. That's just not FUN for me anymore.

However, I should add that I still love playing video games, playing some sport outside with friends, or going to the park or playground with my nieces and nephews (I mean actually going down the slide and playing tag, and climbing the monkey bars).

You have to be able to find balance. You're NOT a child, but it's okay to live carefree like one once in awhile. It's also okay to enjoy your adult interests.

Who said anything about clubbing and drinking?

That's the stupid shit teenagers long to do because it's "adult" like.

    Boring ass shit.

    Paintball is fun, just pricey.

Sports are a good way for adults to play and hang out.

A cute little BBQ? What's wrong with that? Well, I never had cute ones, but I used to go to massive ones where we'd get a big game of football. But that becomes harder and harder to do as time goes by. I even dropped out of my softball team this year because of how busy I am nowadays.

I think I don't have the energy or mentality to play like they used to because I'm constantly thinking about the responsibilities I have around and ahead of me.

But I can't wait to revert once my kid is born.

Either way, if you've got that end and on the other end the "rent hookers for a crazy party, get smashed and run around stirring up shit in the city" then I'd rather go for the barbeque.

Unfortunately boring chit chat is part of our every day life. If it's boring derail the topic and talk about or encourage people to do something fun (kinda like we do on here). It's all about taking control of the situation.
