Chemistry?

Hi All:

I'm new to this forum, so be gentle.

I'm middle aged and twice divorced (both long term relationships). I now find myself doing the Internet subscription dating thing (you know the site). With the vast number of people, I have no problem getting first dates but they rarely become 2nd or 3rd dates.

Most people consider me smart, funny and a good conversationalist. For example, the other day I met someone for drinks from that site. We talked for 3 hours straight and had plenty in common. The next day I emailed her and thanked her for the great conversation and said I looked forward to meeting again. I received an email saying that while she too enjoyed our conversation she didn't feel "any chemistry" and so wasn't interested in getting together again.

I've heard this chemistry or lack thereof comment all too often. I realize that I am not George Clooney handsome and sort of on the short side but those things are obvious on my profile.

I am the basic nice guy but maybe I'm being too nice. Should I change my approach? This might be hard because I am who I am.

I'm feeling pretty discouraged. Any constructive suggestions?

Sure, I felt some chemistry. Definitely enough to go out again.

Have I ever felt chemistry? Strange question - many times. Of course there's the chemistry that might feel like, " I wanna get her in bed" but nothing else, and chemistry that says, "this might be a person I could really care about." I've felt both often.
