    cutting down on salt.

so recently i had bad effects from too much salt. my martinis were too dirty, and my food was too salty in general. well last weekend my feet were hella swollen. they were so swollen that i could barely walk on them, i was barefoot most of the time shoes were unbearable. and i was just tired as fuk in general. i would sleep until noon, which is VERY unusual for me. i'm a lark, remember? then i would take long naps during the day. i just felt very worn out.

so a doc told me i had too much salt in my diet and i needed to chill.

no more dirty martinis. no more of those canned soups. definitely no fast food. and easy on the salt.

i've been eating things mostly salt free these days. took a little while to get used to but it's getting easier.

i didn't know how bad it was for a person until recently. perhaps it's my age and my body's not able to process it as easily.

but yeah people, too much salt is bad for you.

C'mon 'Sombra, how did you not know too much salt is bad for you?

That's like saying you didn't know too much fat was bad for you either, or sugar, even.

i knew, i just never had the effects of it. it's like smokers know that smoking cause emphazema (sp), but they don't have the symptoms of it so they keep on smoking anyway.

    k?

When I was a little boy, I used to dip everything in salt. I don't have any health problems associated with diet just yet.. but I don't dip my food in salt anymore.

Just use it to season things... and learn to use other spices as well. I think that I have maybe $30 of spices right now... and I use only a little salt.

i've been checking my foods for levels of sodium chloride for quiet a while now. you can try comparing the same item but with lesser levels of chloride and see how different it tastes.

It doesn't matter what the recommended daily amount is for someone your age should be because clearly you require a personalized amount.

Just eat less of it, and you'll be fine.

Try cutting back to between 3-4 grams (3000-4000 mg). No one needs more than that.
