Well, that quote certainly made me think. Lots of different interpretations, I'm curious to read what people think it means. So, for that LA gets a Thanks!

"To run away from danger, instead of facing it, is to deny one's faith in man and God, even one's own self. It were better for one to drown oneself than live to declare such bankruptcy of faith" - Mahatma Gandhi

Running is acceptable when one is guaranteed to lose. To do otherwise is folly.

I think it was Sun Tzu that said that. Mind, he also said that directly confronting danger is equally stupid. Intelligent planning & controlling the situation in advance is the key.

    Sun Tzu also said:

“If the instructions and words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, then the general is to blame.” He then repeated the explanations several times. This time he ordered the drums to signal ‘left turn,’ and again the women burst into laughter.

Then Sun Tzu said, “If the instructions and words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, the general is to blame. But if the commands are clear and the soldiers disobey, then it is the fault of the officers.” He immediately ordered the women who were at the head of the two troops to be beheaded.

Now the drums were sounded and the drill began. The women performed all the maneuvers exactly as commanded. They drilled perfectly in precision and did not utter a single sound.

    Maybe he was onto something...

Weak find the whip, willing find freedom

Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

That fear is a tool that can be used to achieve a goal?

You're a more intellectual person than I am, is that what you were alluding to?

You fear your own anger, the drive to do great and terrible things."

Its because that story didn't come from AOW, but some dude's biography. I wonder if its true?

    Good question, it all depends

    Was Sun Tzu real?

I don't think anyone really knows, but if he was, its likely a pseudonym. Whoever wrote AOW, its really good stuff.

I know, I know... here I go again... but...

    What is omnipotent?

And don't tell me to get a dictionary because I hate them and I understand it better when someone just tells me

It means "all-powerful" as in having unlimited power

    W. Somerset Maugham - "We know our friends by their defects rather than by their merits."

"One who's our friend is fond of us: one who's fond of us isn't necessarily our friend." - Seneca, Letters to Lucilius.

    Same meaning, differnt wording.

If it's still not really clear after the Seneca quote, I'll gladly explain it in detail IndiReloaded.
