MODEST MOUSE!! YEAH!! I just happened to be listening to Float on, by Modest Mouse when I was reading this. They really have earned my vote for the next big thing.

Velvet Revolver rocks the house. Can't beat that sound. The Vines are alright.
The Darkness is a rising band. They really remind me of 80's glam rock. Great, if you like that kind of stuff.

Shpongle has been around for a while, but they still are getting more and more recognition. Techno. Uber-good techno I might add. If you're looking for a definitive new-wave sound, Shpongle is it.

Way Out West also deserves some recognition. Best club trance I've heard in a while. Soothing vocals, soothing sounds, music for relaxation or culturification.

DJ Spectrum is on the other end of the spectrum from Way Out West. Fast beats, so fst you'll think your speakers are breaking into shards. Specializes in 180BPM and up. (Yes, I said 180 beats per minute and up!) Normally, the high speed is 300-400, but I've heard him mix up to 800 at times. Shake the shingles off your house, that'n will.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Modest Mouse isn't really a new band. They're just finally making it big. I hadn't heard of them myself until a couple years ago so I'm not saying there's anything wrong with not knowing their old stuff. But seriously check out the stuff from ablums like "The Moon and Antarctica". Not every song is that great but some of them are true masterpieces.

Jet has this AMAZING song on the Spiderman 2 soundtrack (amazing CD btw)

Switchfoot I have known about for years, and their music is just getting big now. I've always loved them though.

Jet's really good, I personnally like their 'look at what you've done' song, the others are pretty good too.

Another relatively new Australian Band is John Butler Trio, I saw them support Powderfinger and they were that good that Powderfinger didn't have as much impact as you would expect.
