So, you're saying that, some of those satanists might actually be praying to Jesus?

You know, if you believed in Jesus, I'm sure he could help you with that ;-)

If the Bible came from college students:

    1. 'Blood of Christ' would be keg beer (wine too expensive).

    2. The Last Supper would have been eaten the next morning: cold!

    3. The 'Ten Commandments' would only be five, double-spaced, and typed in a large font (copied from their friend who took the course last year) .

    4. There would be a New Edition every two years in order to limit reselling.

    5. Cain would have killed Abel b/c they were roommates.

    6. God would have created the world in a single Red Bull fueled all nighter. Then he would have slept for the other 6 days.

No. In fact, that is one of the most appealing things about buddhism.

However, they do believe in karma & reincarnation. So, in a way, its just exchanging one untestable belief for another.

Exactly, and I consider myself a Buddhist.

Man, the very thought of having to do certain things over again until I get them 'right' makes me want to hurl.

Buddhism is very appealing. But I suppose it depends on who you talk to. I'd love to live peacefully in Tibet for years. One of my good friends is Chinese, and she says that growing up in a Buddhist household was extremely strict.

You didn't do anything, thats the problem.

You're a writer. Can't you whip up a quick brochure on the benefits of atheism that we can give out to those door-to-door religious salesppl?

Or get a contact to do it? Post it as a pdf on a blog site. Guaranteed to get tons of hits...

I've done a google search. Seems like noone has done this yet. Amazing.

why would a person try to convince the world that God doesn't exist. people who believe in something are generally happier and it gives them meaning whether other people believe or not. it would seem like a useless exercise creating such a document. it would only help some people who are influenced easier than others to become more unhappy with their lives. what are the benefits of atheism btw?

This idea that atheists are unhappy is a myth. If anything we need brochures targeted at teens and young adults. Not brochures that say there's no god and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot, but brochures that discuss atheism intelligently and present it as an alternative to the hokus pokus witch doctor stuff folks have been hearing since birth.

As for me making a brochure? I'm not a philanthropist. If some wealthy atheist wants to fund a campaign to spread atheism I'd be more than happy to produce something for a fat paycheck. Otherwise I'm content to sneer at theologians from a safe distance.

one of the benefits of atheism is not relying or hoping that a higher power is in charge of your destiny, but you are. once you know that you and only you are in control and can make anything happen, you won't sit around waiting for a good man to drop on your lap, but instead take a bad one and mold what you want out of him.
