Hostel was good because the pretty girl gets her face melted and dies infront of a train, but she wasn't really pretty she was just plastic and barbies-like so people can hate her and be happy she died.

I hate television. They perpetuate the stereotypes against ugly people.

I had to google who he is to see what he looks like, but I disagree that he is ugly. I think he is really pretty average.

Makes me wonder, though, what people consider ugly.

I don't think Lyle Lovett is any uglier than Tony Shaloub. I suppose they're both just average dudes, but compared to all the pretty people on TV, they look like goblins.

I wonder, in real life, how much more often the pretty people get murdered (by angry TV watchers, maybe).

It depends on your defintion of ugly. In *some* movies, the heros look like barbie dolls, but in academy award winning movies and TV they generally have their own unique look. Something that is not make-up or replicatable. Take Maggie Gyllenhal, she's not a barbie dolll, and yet she gets to play all these fierce heroines. In fact, the dark knight movie, completely blows this theory, but that's just an example.

There are plenty of movies and TV where this isn't completely true, but a character has to be visually intriguing to the audience. They have to be able to identify. And babies react more positively to beautiful people (facial symetry) so it's natural that it would go beyond into adult life.

Sorry, ask sonrisa about plastic surgery. Although, that is the barbie doll wave. I still think an attractive person on the inside makes them more attractive on the outside. But not to cosmetic standards. Simple things like smiling can make you much more attractive.

I don't watch very much TV myself. Every now and then I enjoy some comedy. Sometimes I will watch something educational, like discovery or history channel, but that's it. I can't stand other programs or shows. They just seem so superficial and whatnot.
