    Who said it wasn't possible?

Couple, married 83 years, share their secret
Minnesota duo’s longevity earns them a place in ‘Guinness World Records’.

The year was 1925. In Hugo, Minn., an 18-year-old man named Clarence Vail married his 16-year-old sweetheart, Mayme. They had met in the eighth grade, and marriages at such young ages were more the norm than the exception back then. Unremarkable at the time, that union, now 83 years old and still as strong as ever, has finally claimed a place among the historic events of the year.

OK, it's from last year but still interesting and inspiring.

They don't make them like this any more
    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame
    God or the Devil

The thought of being married to someone for 83 years would make me wish for an early death. LOL

That is because you are unhappy with your marriage.

Whatever, kid. Although I see you follow me around these boards posting idiotic pearls of "wisdom" about my marital life (which I generally ignore), I think everyone here knows that the idea of YOU having any special insight to my relationship is patently absurd, not the least because I never post anything about it. You know as much about my private life (or frankly, any long term relationship) as you do about rocket science.

Now why don't you run along and play with the other kids? Or go whine some more to loveadmin about how you aren't allowed in the private forums? lol
I refuse to be baited into satisfying your nosiness about my marital life by your provocations.

    That's exactly what I thought.

Because clearly if I were as happy as lilwing (with his 1 year relationship that really is only more like 3 months because of distance), I would be professing it on every other thread I posted in, bragging about the fact that I get layed regularly, and making threads to whine bitterly about every stupid little quarrel.

    Yeah, that's happiness for you!

You're even cuter when you take the defensive stance.

There's no reason to feel backed into a corner. I was just going to suggest that you might be happier with your love life if it included Gribble.

If you would have taken the time to read the full article (link is provided) you may have noticed it was actualy her being in control of the marriage, while he's the passive one... muhahahaha.. so much for that.

Oh yeh, not being a single mum and not raising kids on her own must have been really tough for her. Say what you like, but once upon a time a lot of women used to be happy in long term marriages. All of my grandmothers, great grandmothers and aunties always reminisce about their beautiful relationships and love for their partners that never died. They say there is no way they could be any happier. It really is a sad sight seeing the 60 year old "empowered" single bottoxed meat sacks roaming the pubs in hopes of finding a better man. No one wants them. No one is interested in them. People avoid them like the plague while they drown themselves in alcohol. Go choice and female empowerment for setting them free!!!

Wow, that's very ungenerous of you. It is very possible that at that age, their husbands have kicked the bucket already, or they simply want to have a drink.

Do you really think women that age are still on the hunt for a man? I mean, I suppose there are some, but I haven't really come across any. And why are you so bitter about women who choose not to be tied down? For every woman that wants her freedom, there are probably 5 that don't.
