    What?

    I wasn't joking.

Don't you see my mood meter?

    It says Grumpy.

Everything I say now I mean, but regret and denounce later.

What the hell are you so inspired for, anyway?

Fras has PMS. Is why he's grumpy. That, or he was going to pick 'Sleezy' but the other 6 dwarves aren't menu choices (yet).

I was going to pick bored, but I'm not really bored, although the expression on his face is more accurate to my own.

Right now, if I was a dwarf, I'd have to pick 'wheezy'.

Congratulations. You have just accurately described me. :/

Sorry for digging an old thread like this, but this is my problem. That's probably why I couldn't make anything of my recent non-relationship - she got mad at me everytime I went into self-hating mode. I thought being with someone for real would finally kick-start my self-esteem, but since it failed, I'm even worse than before.

How does a physics student with 99% male social acquaintances, that barely leaves the house unless it's for college and is frightened of common social situations, improve his self-esteem? I don't want to love myself, just want to stop hating, and believing I'm doomed to be alone. :/
Time to stop complaining when there is no reason to. Life's good, man.

Go out and meet girls. Talk to them. Try different modes until you find one that works and you are comfortable with. You know how to run an experiment. Dating is no different.

Get some interests that don't involve physics directly but involve other people. Martial arts or music are good ones. When the opportunity to socialize arises, take it.

All the guys I dated, including the one I married, were almost exclusively physics or engineering types. Knowledge and competency is extremely attractive to women, especially as they mature. You are a commodity, believe it. You just don't know it yet. Be confident that you are smarter and will be more successful than 99% of people out there. Act accordingly.

This may sound a bit childish but the "especially as they mature" part got me worried, makes it sound like I'm gonna have to wait it out till 30.. xD

All jokes aside, I know what you're saying. I've actually been told most of that by other people. But I'm having a hard time finding the right social environment for me to meet girls, strangely enough everytime I get a hobby that involves socializing, it turns out to be almost exclusively male. Happened in my guitar lessons for example. :S

BTW, stupid question: if I find someone attractive in a random place like a bus, or some store, etc., is it ok to try and talk to her? Or is it socially wrong? I've always had the feeling one shouldn't do it.

EDIT: When I say "socially wrong" I mean isn't she going to think "bah, idiot trying to hit on me" right away?

(p.s. this is just for future notice. I want to sort things out with my non-girlfriend and myself before even thinking of trying anything)

2nd EDIT: nevermind, some reading got me the answer. Don't think I've got the nerve for it though.
