I think I might agree, Neo. However, there are other ways that lots of casual sex can be irresponsible, not just by fathering unwanted children.

    Sexual disease transmission?

    Emotional destruction of unwitting partners?

Are you saying that your sexual partners (I assume all female) are just as open in their attitude about casual sex as you? Or do you manipulate them into believing you are something you are not?

I sleep with the same girls rather than find a new one every night, and I wear protection.

    "Emotional destruction of unwitting partners?"

    I'm straight up with them.

yes, they're all females. I'm not gay. I tell girls before I sleep with them I'm not looking for anything serious, just to have a good time. I don't mislead them. A lot of the girls I meet don't have time for a relationship.

Well, in this case I really don't have anything to add.

Maybe this generation really are a lot freer about sexual gratification. Less hang ups about the whole process than me or some of the older posters?

But, in simplifying the whole exchange: 'get on, get off, get on with life', wouldn't that make it that much more likely that all the things I mentioned that are better than sex, really are?

Well, if sex is simple & easy then it would stand to reason that there are things that would be more gratifying. At least for those who find value in things that require hard work and effort to obtain.

You don't believe that scarcity or difficulty in achievement increases perceived value of things?

Let's hear your example of something you thought might be more gratifying than sex. My bet is that it is something not easily or commonly achieved.

Winning an argument with me doesn't count.

No, they're the most emotionally numb group of people I've met. A large portion are anti-intellectual, despite the fact that they do have working minds and pass exams. One can pass an exam without being an intellectual or intellectually curious.

They are the living embodiment of Nietzsche's "Last Man." (or person as the case may be).

In fact, in their well-fed American faces, I see everything I've read about totalitarians--emotionally numb anti-social psychopaths.

In terms of the attitude towards sex (pragmatic, no time for emotions)...I've read several accounts of sex in the Soviet Union--it was exactly the same thing as we see in the US today among many of the young people.

I agree. Everything is either dissected into its evolutionary/biological processes on one extreme or it's reverted into something shallow that has to conform to a nice 'one-size-fits-all' package.

I can't help but to wonder if people (particularly in my age-group) even have any emotional depth? And I'm not talking about the emo BS... but true consideration of how they feel and how those around them feel?

No, it was serious report on abortion in the Soviet Union. The abortion rate was one of the reasons (one of many) why Soviet population started to flatten out. Repeated poorly performed abortions lead to inability to conceive a child.

In many cases, I think they are fully aware of themselves in terms of a very basic level of self-preservation. Those who are truly anti-intellectual and lack all depth are very insecure about their status--and they will attack anyone who threatens their delicate thread of a fake existence. They are pretenders and they know they are pretenders.

Many will tell me that they know their parents screwed them over with all of the "You are just so damned smart!' crap. At this point, they want a job with status (to get mommy and daddy off their backs...mommy and daddy are VERY into status; plus, its a rat-race...their friends are also being pushed into status and therefore they need it to keep their social circle) and to make enough money to have trinkets, travel and good times. Of course, their teachers are also telling them that they're geniuses because the colleges and universities need the enrollment to pay for all those salaried staff.

Inside, though, many young people are, unfortunately, totally dead human beings, old before their time because they have, in 15-20 years of living, experienced more violence and pollution (of all types) directed against their minds, souls, and bodies than have most adults in human history.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Therefore, as there are so many who are empty shells of humanity, it is natural that their minds, souls, and bodies become indiscriminate receptacles for all types of things, to include the random sex organ of another on a random Saturday night.

Again, not true of all, but it is true of far too many, particularly in Western societies that have more available to them in the form of wealth than ever--perhaps the wealth is part of the disease?

I don't know about general population, but I read that an incredible number of abortions were performed as a result of the Chernobyl accident.

This info is easy found on the web.

Cam doesn't seem to be the sort to do crack, somehow.
