I'm really hoping that was sarcastic. People don't "get themselves raped" yeesh.

On the whole, I don't agree with abortions except in extenuating circumstances. However, I also don't agree with condemning someone for making that choice (provided they only did it once). Most of you have no idea how devastating it is to a woman (which is why I really have little use for men's opinion on the subject). I've had a few friends that had abortions as young teenagers. Stupid, yes, but they were in no position to be parents, came from bad homes as it was, and just had no other options. It's easy to say 'adoption' but again, unless you're a woman, you won't understand the bond you feel to that child after you've been carrying it for nine months. Makes it kind of hard to let go, and also psychologically devastating.

So, given the circumstances, I'd rather my friends had their abortions rather than A) put up with 15+ years of guilt for giving away their child B) raising it in a house with crackhead abusive parents.

You think it's any better life for a child to raise it on welfare, with a mom who's uneducated because she didn't finish high school? That's just bringing a child in society doomed to repeat the cycle.

This is pretty much my stand on the matter too, Blue. Must be the socialist Canadian mindset.

Mbe we could just insist that any gal who needs an abortion due to teenage pregnancy could have it through the public health system, but she must then be given a contraceptive implant? To be removed only under certain conditions?

Won't that idea just freak out the anarchists?

I couldn't agree more. As a potential father, if you weren't prepared for her to make the decision, you should've kept it in your pants.

I guess then that the military should have little use of womens opinions on military affairs because women do not serve in combat positions

Sometimes, gender roles just aren't fair

Anti-abortionists don't give a shit about the baby once it's done being cute, and especially if they're not the ones that have to take care of it.

Hell, isn't killing anyone for any reason considered a post-term abortion?

Ok I Always swore I would never have an abortion because it would be my own fault if I got pregnant, and I didn't like other people having them tbh. But I recently HAD to have one myself.
I found out I was pregnant and I was not sure what I wanted. So I went to the hospital to talk to someone about it all and they did a scan and found out it had no heart beat so I had no choice but to do the one thing I hated. I had nothing but problems going through it all, I was in and out of hospital for checks for months and it was horrible. I would never have another one again in my life.
But even though I had no choice I am still getting looked down at because I had one, so my opinion changed because I now know what other women feel like when they have one and have them people around them look down at them. So I have mixed views on this, but the one thing I don't change my mind about is the fact that girls who go around slagging it about and getting pregnant should not be allowed abortions, they should learn from the first time and not keep going in. It was the worst experience of my life and I don't know how anyone can go in over and over because they just simply don't want the baby.
