attention craving

Ok so there is a long back story behind this question but i'm just gonna get to the general point since it has happen more then once.

So i know that girls will sometimes go after a guy that used to like them but lost interest, even if they don't want him, simply because they like the attention and the compliment of having around someone who likes them. basically an ego trip.

SO the question is, do guys do this too? would a guy try to reel back in a girl, he thinks used to have feelings for him, even if he doesn't actually want her just for the ego trip of having someone swoon over him while moves on greener pastures?

i hope that question makes sense.

haha i know what you mean, but guys tend to claim to be "uncomplicated" and "straightforward" so i was just wondering what they had to say about it

Well, if i didn't like a girl when she was interested in me i would not normally go after her when she has lost interest. There is always a reason why I don't like her in the first place.

It's all too common and I find it despicable. "Poor me, I need attention, I think I'll lie to someone and use them as a stepping stone".
