I just dont understand.

So there is this girl I like, she talks to me a lot, I talk to her on Instant messenger, and she thinks im funny, all of that classic stuff. And let me also say that she always starts the convos, like she really does want to talk to me. She talked about this guy she “sorta” liked to me. When I started acting sad at this, she told me she likes some “other guys too”, like she was saying I had a chance. I asked her out today, and she says maybe…I asked her if that was a yes or a no, and she said she just has a lot of stuff going on. I get that this is probably rejection, but, where did I go wrong?? All these signals seemed so clear. Do i even have a chance?

I hate how some people say maybe instead of a yes or a no. "Maybe" as in "Hmm, you look like a nice backup if I ever need one".
