I'm 26, yet I've never been in a relationship. I came close once but ended up moving back to Cali. Anyway, most times, the thought of intense feelings for another person made me nervous so relationships always scared me. I never thought I could be girlfriend material. Now, I'll be 30 in no time and definitely feel I should be rising out of that mindset. This all dawned on me very recently (like 2wks ago).

I guess I'm getting really lonely now. And since I have no relationship experience, I'm feeling anxious. I'm really liking this guy so....yeah. This is why I always preferred apathy over real feelings. It's all so infuriating.

    Hi Empress Leo

Please do not put pressure on yourself to acquire 'relationship experience'. My advice to you is to not place emphasis in rushing into anything. Visit places where there are people who like the same things as you. It could be taking a class to do a hobby or just socialising with others. When meeting someone, don't make it a big quest to 'find the one' or you may inadvertently come across as needs, awkward or deperate to potential suitors. Instead, be yourself and try to establish friendships with guys you like. Nothing more than that. Why? because whilst you are friend's with them you're getting to know them, assessing whether they are relationship ready, and compatible with you plus you're not getting yourself in deep with the possibility of later getting hurt. Secondly, by getting involved with things you like helps reduce your lonliness as you're learning to mingle with other people and are increasing your social skills. 'I never thought I would be girlfriend material' - why is this? Every man is different - could your pre-conceived ideas about what a girlfriend is, actually be wrong? Do you value yourself?
Lastly, you say you really like a guy. That's great but is he showing signs that he likes you? if he is, ask him if he would like to go out with you on a date sometime and see what he says. Remember to just be yourself and don't put pressure on yourself. Take things slowly and at your own pace.
