Yea but it wouldn't be very pretty if this journey came to an abrupt stop. I know of homeostatic Imbalance and that alone makes people suffer. I don't give the human organs very long with this system completely failing. Even in a artificially controlled environment by us.

I didn't read about a specific system failing, must've missed that post.

People live with all kinds of conditions that put you out of whack. You are all young. Wait until you get your first chronic back problem or headaches or heart condition or blood pressure problem. Those are all examples of homeostasis out of balance.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.

I know, it wasn't meant to be a specific system. The comparison was to the need for sex I think. I think I meant to say it was a bad analogy because you can either have sex or not have it but Homeostasis is more complicated than that.

I want to hear these other measures. Everything else is a want if it doesn't conclude with death. Money can be a need if starving is the only option with out it for example. Otherwise it becomes a want. Sex is a want that through hormones makes us feel like it is a need, however if you don't have sex you will be ok. Unless someone knows about someone who actually died from not having sex than let me know.

People overthink sex. Its just a basic need, like food and air. As usual, religion just makes a muddle of it.

I don't know if I would say that sex is as important as food and air.

On an absolute scale, no, its not. But you don't think humans need it?

Ha you banter concepts around like you really understand what it all means.

Of course humans will survive. And the ones who survive... are the ones having sex. LOL.

Unless we get to mass-cloning soon, like Cyteen. I guess that might throw a wrench into things.

Human race to procreate if that is where you are headed than yes. Me myself to survive? no not at all. I mean it is fun but hey. The survival of the human race and the survival of me are two different things.

You dont need it to survive in that aspect but, like companionship, the person youre having sex with helps meet your psychological needs. There really isnt such a thing as "love," you just find someone that is best helping meet your needs.
