I was sitting at the table today, having some dinner with my friends

When a French girl (one from France) started speaking perfect English to other people at the table. Despite this, she still seemed to have a condescending manner like most French people do. She was also from Paris. They are the worst

well, they DO have a reputation (though I find on an individual level, most people do not play out to their stereotypes).

Eurosnobs. Yep, that stereotype is often true.

That explains why all my friends are Europeans. Us snobs get along well together.

Eurosnobs are only snobs if they think you are American. I get this assumption a lot with travel, but once it comes out I'm Canadian, then I'm barely passable b/c we speak [bad] french and are a Commonwealth nation. Still too much like Britain, tho to be completely acceptable.

A lot of my friends are European, DM. Don't let a stupid cunt from France allow you to generate whole stereotypes about people.

Not even American. Once they know you are a Democrat and a secularist you're okay by their books. It's the Christian Republicans they can't stand.

I am still waiting to be proven wrong that american guys are obnoxious.

Fortunately the girls tend to be alright, none of the barbie wannabes tend to venture out of their comfort-country.

We're not obnoxious. We just aren't a bunch of reserved Eurofags like you

You don't have to be coy in your insults

Always so prickly It would be far worse if it was based on this forum rather than people I've met through high school, uni and overseas.

If you go out to a college party you get a bunch of obnoxious twats. If you hang out at a cafe during poetry open mic night you see an entirely different flavor of people.

Why do some people not seem to understand that? Or do they know it perfectly well but choose to disregard it because it serves the view they want?

Meh. I don't even like people very much, but I'd hardly call all Americans obnoxious or all Europeans snobs. You know what it is? Idiot Americans are obnoxious loudmouths and idiot Europeans are uptight pseudo-intellectuals. That's what it really comes down to. And, as we all know, idiots are in the majority.

It is my dream to have a french girlfriend. Or, even better, a french wife.

One of my mate's overseas had a beautiful french girlfriend. Her accent was like listening to bird song. I wouldn't even listen to what she was saying, I'd be so wrapped up in the sound of her voice.

I was very, very envious of that guy.
Is it burnin'? Well, f-ck, now you're learnin'.
