    The Best of Me

    WATCH THE SUN RISE--
I like to wake up early sometimes
    And sit at my window
    I imagine you beside me
You hold me as I look
    Into your eyes
    To watch the sun rise

    TIME--
    Mornings come as quiet as
The rays that flood over the hills.
    Soft clouds touch pink skies,
    And small sounds like singing
Flood the air as birds wake.
    And we sit there waiting,
Not knowing how we fit into
    The beauty of creation,
    Because time has corroded
    The beautiful layers to leave
    Death naked and exposed.

    DREAMS: PAINFUL INTERPRETATIONS--
    Dreams are curious
For they remind us of the past
They reinterpret happening into irrational thought
    And produce the possiblilty
That not all falls into the hands of logic
And so it is strange to dream of you
And recall the pain I felt
But my dreams are the only place where my pain can be expressed
In a way that is clear
    Oh
If only I could film those dreams and have you sit and watch
I think you would have nightmares
    Too

    FAR OFF LOVE--
Sometimes we go through life with blinders
When good things come along we don't know it
All we see is the darkness and the shadow
But a ray of light remains deep in my heart
I feel you out there somewhere waiting
I know you from my dreams and my inspirations
I will never let you go

    MAKING LOVE--
He takes my hand ever so gently in his
And pulls me close for a long, soft kiss
He looks in my eyes then draws me near
And begins to whisper in my ear

"I loved you before I knew your face
God had you hidden in some distant place
I had no doubts from the moment we met
You'd be the woman I'd never forget

You lifted me up on golden wings
Showed me a world of new and wond'rous things
You gave me the hope that had left long ago
And taught me that life still has places to go

I've ached to hold you since that first day
And now that you're with me I beg you to stay
I give you my soul as my partner and friend
And pray that you'll stay with me to the end"

    SLEEPING POTION--
    Rainy days bring cloudy nights
    The wind beats my window
Bringing dark secrets of black spaces
    I can't sleep
Lying alone in an empty room
    I close my eyes
I can feel you in the darkness
I can taste you in the air
I can smell you on my skin
Your hands caress me in the roaring storm
    And my heart stops
    And I die

That's nice, PA.. How long does it take you to write something like that? Do you sit down one day and say, I'm going to write a poem, then wait to be inspired..or are you struck inspiration suddenly and decide you have to write it down??

I have yet to try hard, but in a moment's notice this is the best I can come up with:

    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
    Some poems rhyme
    But this one doesn't

Ha ha..and I didn't even make it up..I can't take the credit for it. I heard it from a friend and thought it was funny.

I liked "Making Love" although I can't find the logic in the title. The poem starts off as if you're going to descibe sex, but then you trail off into your boyfriend's monologue of expessing love.
I have it all. Including kino.

LOL Nomas! It depends on the day, and the poem. I tend to write freestyle... The whole rhyme and meter thing takes so long to perfect sometimes. But generally I can push out a single work in under two minutes.

Killerbabe, "Making Love" is probably one of my more personal poems, based off of something that specifically applies to my life. When I first met Aaron (my boyfriend) one of the thing he said to me was "you don't have to be physical to make love". I always thought that was very profound; a lot of people don't stop and consider the things that other people do for them or say to them that mean just as much as the physical act of making love.

    *feeling shallow*

Erhm... okay, I guess I tend to interpret things in a more popular way.

Hey there is nothing wrong with that at all! It's not shallow... It's just... less dimensional, I guess. Most people think that way. I did until he made that comment to me, and it just made me start to think... and that poem is what I came up with.

    ORAL STIMULATION--
He lays me down on the white cotton sheets,
Drawing his fingers over my body,
Making me shiver and moan as he goes
    Slowly down.
Enjoying the nakedness and vulnerability of
    My trembling body,
He slides his tongue between his lips
And presses them against my own.
Hot and wet, he caresses me,
Tracing my womanhood, teasing my senses.
He looks up at me with big china blue eyes,
Running his tongue completely over me.
    I shiver and gasp.
In and out he slides it, gently flicking it over
    Key spots.
    I could die like this...

LOL! Well I sort of shocked myself with that one. I was in a mood yesterday and had to get it out SOMEHOW! That is a little outside of my normal style. I'm usually much more eloquent and much less carnal.

DON'T LOOK AT ME THAT WAY--
    You call me naive
But you don't know what I've seen.
    You call me inexperienced
But you don't know where I've been.
    You call me childish
But you don't know what I've done.
How can you not see the woman in me?
    What does it take?
What more do I need to do
    To have your love?
Can't you try to open your heart to me?
I will sleep in your bed,
    I will haunt your dreams,
I will make you love me.

    IF--
    I hate it-
    the distance, the silence,
    the wondering "if" or "why"-
I feel so alone so often.
If I could have you here right now,
    I would give up everything.
If I could look into the future
and know that we'll be okay,
    I'd risk it.
I just need to know that
    I won't fail us again.
    But through the fears and
    doubts that I suffer,
a few small words reach me:
"I believe in you, and I believe in
    us."
    We can do this.
    If I keep fighting.

Thanks. I don't really like my poetry very much, but it's a good outlet.
