    Pepsi and Coca-Cola?

    Easy, Pepsi is sweeter.

EDIT: and Starbucks coffee is bitter because it's espresso based.

Sour, on the other hand, is a different story.
Yeah but with Pepsi and Coke, try to do that experiment. Drink both without knowing which one is what. I'm actually curious if they say true... Hmmm

I can tell the difference b/t Pepsi and Coke. Easy. Pepsi is milder, somehow.

We tried this as students. Poured P & C in the same glasses and drank it blind w/water b/t tasting, etc. We could tell. Maybe the formula is different in Canada, not sure. Or maybe some people are just more sensitive. I'd like to know what the chemical difference *is* between P & C. The abstract suggests there is a difference.

Could be like people who wine taste. According to studies, the average person can't tell b/t a $15 and $40 bottle of wine, but there are those who can.

It was written that C and P have the same chemical contents, thus was the experiment.

And about the wine. Yeah I already said, there are people who can tell You if the guy who collected the grapes was in good mood that day or not
Well but there is everything in this world. There is even a guy who's ass is so sensitive that he's a bed/couch/something comfort tester and his ass is insuranced for few millions of dollars. That's crazy but that's the world we live in .

See, that's where you & I differ in opinion. I can understand there would be people with heightened sense of taste/smell.

If you read the abstract carefully, it doesn't say P & C are identical. It says

"are nearly identical in chemical composition". Who knows what that means?

Since our eyes can detect a single photon, I'm sure there are some people with very sensitive taste receptors as well.

I drink coffee every morning ... black.

I'll drink tea if it's around ... helps push greasy Asian food down.

Some guys at work bashed on me one time for putting cream in my coffee. Telling me that it was for women, and that in a lot of southern states you have to ask for cream, making it even more embarrassing for men to put it in their coffee.

But I threw back at them, "How is that cream is less manly, but sugar isn't? You put all this sugar in your coffee to make it sweet, shit, I don't even put sugar in my coffee, just a little cream to take off the edge."

    Shrugs, all around.

Culture can be cool, but sometimes it's just dumb.

Cream and sugar in coffee is cultural and less manly? I do it because I put less calories in my system. And I'm always in too much of a rush to do it.

[EDIT] I meant I do NOT put cream and sugar because it just adds more calories.

I can easily tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi.

You can give me Pepsi in a Coke bottle without telling me and I'll be like this tastes like Pepsi. Coke tastes 'stronger' to me and Pepsi has a more 'mellow' flavor. Can't really think of better words to describe it.

I used to use French Vanilla flavored Coffee Mate and that was sweet enough w/o added sugar.

I think coffee is like alcohol in a sense that it's more like an acquired taste that has a purpose.

Yeah, down here in the South, especially in rural areas, it's considered unmanly to put cream in your coffee.

    But not sugar.

Maybe it's a European thing, but years ago my g/f had some friends visiting from Finland and we were watching the Super Bowl (49ers vs Chargers). This Finnish guy was convinved it's all the same crap and us Americans were just lead by advertising as to what to drink.

I bet him $20, gave him the cash to go to the store and he came back with Coke, Pepsi, RC and 2 store brands. He disappeared into the kitchen to setup the blind taste test and in about 30 seconds I had his $20. The only 2 I mixed up were the store brands.

I do love a Coke every once in awhile, but am not a big soda drinker. Imo, you can identify Coke by even the scent and appearance.
