Alone


All I’ve ever known is here, alone.
A source of strength and peace I call my own.
Held within and tightly bound
Wrapped inside and solely crowned, alone.

All reserve is mine, a manner of solitude divine, alone.
Trust in self, and independence
Individualism and self-reliance
Pushing outward in defiance, alone.

Keeping safe by keeping me, alone
A baby is my chance to be, something new, something ”we”,
What once was one but now is two,
Is better now than being with you, alone.

My feelings are what separate me,

I wish to be whole,
I try to bring myself together,
I become strong in the process but ill.
