Why Do Women Like Jerks?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but a search didn't turn up anything.

So this is an age old question... it's practically a cliché... Why do women like jerks? Let me define a jerk:

• He blows off his girlfriend at the last minute to go hang out with friends, or hangs out with friends on typical "date nights".
• He talks to other girls at the bars when they go out, instead of talking to her.
• He doesn't call often, or doesn't return her calls/texts.
• He doesn't compliment her very often, and in fact may tear down her self-esteem.

I'm sure there are others, but those are the complaints I hear the most. Admittedly those personality traits seem to become less attractive as a woman gets older, and a relationship with that type of guy doesn't last long, even though the girl will likely start dating the very same type of guy after wards.

Having dated women with some of those personality traits, I know that they can keep me in an emotional whirlwind, which I confuse for being love, or a strong attraction. But there must be other reasons.

It certainly doesn't apply to all women. I know some very sweet girls, that are dating very sweet guys, and they're madly in love with each other.

Trying to change a jerk is a BIIIG undertaking. One, I have attempted and admittedly I failed, hard. I do not take such challanges anymore.

Well only thing I can think of from my studies in sociology is perhaps the woman was in a violent environment and that's all they know. Maybe they have low self-esteem for some reason and think that's all they deserve. I used to think I didn't deserve anyone at all but now I'm starting to realize that's not true. I have started to set standards for myself with relationships whether friends or other wise. I, like everyone else, deserve what is best for me.

Some girls like 'project boyfriends'. Usually fails in the end, after the girl becomes screwed up, and wastes a good chunk of her life.

The story is a very common one.. One of my friends is up to 6 years and counting with a complete jerk who doesn't appreciate her at all, pushes her down all the time and treats her badly.. Another friend took 13 years to get away from hers and has been tryinf to put her life back together for the last 3 years..

Why does it happen?? I wish I knew..

The answer to this question is easy.

It's cuz women like guys that are confident and in control. Someone who can take charge and lead the way. A side effect of that is that guys that are confident and in control are usually jerks.

An easy way to parallel this question and reverse it would be when an ugly or fat girl asks "why do guys like stuck up bitches?"

You know as well as I do that we don't like stuck up bitches. We like girls that are hot/cute/pretty or whatever you go for. But a side effect of that is that when girls are good looking, they tend to get hit on a lot and it turns them into stuck up bitches.

Sometimes I act like a jerk but I'm really a nice guy.
