    Flirting with friend's ex...

Is it wrong to flirt with and ask out your friend's ex if they broke up years ago? Are there any unwritten morals of it? I don't want to upset anyone, as they're still good friends...makes it kind of difficult to talk to either of them about it.

I would never go there myself but maybe casually mention the dudes name and see how she reacts. Also keep in mind say you end up dating him and things go sour, your friend is still friends with him so it may end up awkward in that sense.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
    blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Talk to your friend about it first, unless you're willing to scrap the friendship.

If my friend would of asked me about wanting to go out with my ex and if I did not have any plans myself to get back with my ex, I would be honest with my friend and just tell my friend to take good care of her.

If my friend never told ahead and I find out myself, I would think that my friend stab me in the back and was nothing more then a dog.

    Talk to your friend first.
To be or not to be?

    Is that the question?

I think it's fine. just talk to your buddy. One of my girlfriends broke up with her (now ex) boyfriend because of different religious beliefs.
He asked me out a couple weeks later. I went and talked to her about it and she was totally cool with it.

Just DON'T tell your friend if you end up getting laid by their ex...
If I had to choose between loving you and breathing, I'd use my last breath the tell you that I love you

Thanks for all the advice. My friend has definitely noticed flirting between the two of us, but I don't know if she suspects that it isn't all innocent (at least, not from my point of view).

Dreading it, but definitely going to talk to my mate first.
