when asked, he answered in pirate >.>

My boyfriend's friend asked him how we were.

My boyfriend answered that his friend should change his setting to pirate talk....

Details: Were in a long distance relationship, and much of our so called relationship is chatting on msn and facebook... and I love him dearly, but if your guy does that, does that indicate a problem or am i thinking too much about it??

I recently watched the whole Disney pirates movie trilogy again, so maybe I can help you here. The following concepts are commonly associated with pirates:

    rum
    sailing
    buried treasure
armed robbery on the high seas
    eyepatches
    booty
    talking parrots
    illegal downloads
    cannons

From the above list, modern men who are not actually pirates would most likely be talking about booty. Since you're in a long-distance relationship, it sounds like he's having fun with somebody that lives near him.

I don't know the friend involved, in terms of who he would tend to side with. He might cover for his friend, or he might honestly tell you what's going on. Or he might try to stay sort of neutral, by hinting without telling. So this pirate remark seems like a hint.

But if he's telling you everything he knows, then I would guess that your long-distance boyfriend is just frustrated by the lack of sex in this long-distance relationship. He is implying to the friend that he's getting a lot of sex (apparently from somebody else), but that's probably just macho posturing. Otherwise, he would have gone into some details. Unless maybe he did go into the details, and all you're getting from the friend is the pirate hint.

If this is just empty posturing, you should still be concerned, because it at least reflects dissatisfaction with the current situation. He might eventually act on that dissatisfaction and start cheating on you.

Sounds pretty immature and disrespectful on your boyfriends part. How old are you guys? Hopefully he is as into you are you are to him. I'd be kind of hurt too I suppose and maybe make me re-evaluate things. LD relationships are hard to maintain.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
    blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Were you standing right there and he changed into pirate so you couldn't understand what he said? I'm confused about exactly what happened.

So he didn't even address the question? I don't think that's such a big deal.

Some guys like to invent codes for themselves so certain things they say only they will know what it means. I'm guessing that's what's happening here. There's something he/they don't want you to know so they're talking in codes.

Jesus Christ, you guys are thinking into this way too far. Have you never heard of Talk Like a Pirate Day? Pretending to be a pirate is a recurring (albeit somewhat nerdy) joke among a lot of people. My intuition tells me that someone who suggests changing your Facebook setting to pirate talk is not a very serious person. I would assume that this is a joke.
