Last year, my SO and I had dinner on a train that goes along a river. This year, I had thought of a surprise pre-dinner nookie (think lace undies, dangling tassles, candles, and rose petals), but I didn't realize that this weekend is already Val's Day, so I won't be able to order that in time. Not sure myself.

My plan for sunday is to surprise my boyfriend with some sexy lingerie and rose petals on the bed, just to do something a bit different and romantic on that special day. Then we will exchange presents. As my guy is a wine lover, I had a bottle of red wine engraved with a personal message from me to him, which I hope he will love

In the evening he is taking me out for a meal, although I have no idea where as he said it's a surprise. Going out for a meal with your special someone is always a nice treat, it never goes out of style

I personally hate Valentine's Day, but why not play off the fact that Chinese New Year is February 14th...year of the tiger. Does she like cats and stuffed toys? How's about a cute little tiger toy? Does she like junk food (brownies, cake, etc.)? Maybe you could make cupcakes or a pan of brownies out of a box and draw a heart in red icing on the top? Don't buy a card with a pre-written message in it; make your own card with your own heart-felt original message. Even if it looks like crap, she will appreciate it a lot more since it's one of a kind and you made it just for her. Or perhaps go check out your local bath and body store (or porn shop) and get some massage oil and give your partner a massage. Take a shower together. Buy her a box of candies. The possibilities really are endless, but you don't need to even wait until V-Day to do any of this stuff. You can do sweet little things "just because" every once in a while. Don't be sweet just because a holiday tells you to do so.

My BF and I have never done anything for V-day, but when I was in college, my best friend and I went to a Chinese buffet, dragged our asses to the school and passed out in the library since we were so bloated (they have beanbags in the corner for people who want to take naps), and then we bought a giant cookie cake and Faygo and indulged until we damn near threw up. And he gave me a chocolate rose. Bottom line? Don't think too far into it. Simple is sometimes best.

My bf has been super stressed over money so we are just doing a fun dinner and keeping it light. I know he feels kinda bad but he's had to spend almost $3000 in car repairs. I got him some Nike sweat pants but I'll probably save those for another random gift instead of VDay.

I want to get him one of those cards that plays music, maybe some MC Hammer? Maybe I'll get us some massage oils and give him a rub down.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
    blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

    Dinner and a little pickle-tickle.
Keep your love life off Facebook, don't cheat, it's never too soon to make a move on a woman you like.

I love chupa's idea. Makes me laugh.

But seriously, depends on what type of girl she is. I, personally, as a female, HATE stuffed toys and rose petals and junk like that. I'm more of a straight shooter. I don't have sex on 'valentine's day' because it's valentines day. That's ridiculous. I just have sex when I feel like it. I don't know, but if you know your girl, you know what she likes. If she's simple, maybe a bottle of her favorite beverage and a romantic personal evening. My favorite valentine's day was actually very odd. My boyfriend took me to mission beach and had a friend of his take pics of us doing fun stuff...goofing off. He was wearing a tux, and I was wearing a dress with a jacket..it was a bit cold even in San Diego. Then we went and ate fried chicken. Simple..but so fun, because he was just a goof.
