what is it with men and pain?

so thanks to an unfortunate occurrence involving an unfortunate police officer, my bf gets frequent migraine headaches. they are debilitating. however it is possible that he can manage them if, when they start coming on, he takes something quickly. but this man, i have no clue why and maybe you guys can help me understand, does not say anything until it's so bad that it's obvious and he's in an enormous amount of pain and there's nothing we can do to help him.

i've tried talking to him about a million billion zillion times, that if he just tells me right away i can knock it out and that's that. but he refuses. it's so annoying. i hate it. i hate this particular cop and all the pain and agony he's causing us.

but still, why cannot this man just say he's in pain?

Men don't like exposing their potential weaknesses.

Guys get teased (a lot) if they can't handle the pain. It's probably an ingrained social coping mechanism.

i must agree on that. they usually do wait before there pain hits 10 to take a pill and then complain about how they can't do anything anymore. while women take pill at 4 and still keep going with their regular duties.

this is why we die first most times..we hold everything in until one day we just blow up! women tend to always talk about their problems and it gets resolved in time.us..nah, we'd rather die..crazy!

Migraines are horrible thing, so much is not known about what really causes them and what exactly will stop them for good. Every person is so different. I can see how chronic migraine sufferers can get depressed. Women I think turn their pain outward...express their pain through words or tears. I think men are more apt and trained to turn their pain inward. Hatred/anger turned inward is depression.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
    blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

If he hasn't yet, he should try caffeine along with whatever pain reliever he uses. Migraines are thought to be caused by dilation of the blood vessels in the head; caffeine helps constrict those blood vessels.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

If that is the case, then alcohol should amplify the pain correct?

I prefer being in pain to taking drugs - unless the pain is too much. Nothing to do with society, altough I see the point.
