You know, we woud really get along well in real life.

As much as I was heartbroken and needed some ego massage at times, I really like people who tell it like it is.

You came across as harsh at times but mostly your commets couldn't be truer. I really miss friends like you.....

I'm pretty sure that scientists don't let men have Viagra when they're participating in controlled laboratory studies.

I don't know what they did... the link didn't reference a controlled study. But in any case, that article DID address the fact that men medicate themselves.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

You two are still on this? As much as I respect your opinion and understand the various points you have made Vashti (including your personal sex drive and that of other women here) I politely disagree with the notion that women in general have a sex drive as high or higher than males (in general, mind you). Testosterone is responsible for sex drive and men generally have a higher level of testosterone vs estrogen. Testosterone is responsible for hair growth, muscle growth, and sex drive (although I'm sure you already knew that). Isn't it logical then to conclude that men (in general) naturally have a higher sex drive than women simply because of our hormonal balance? I am of course ignoring men who may have high testosterone levels and don't want sex because of past abuse, or women who have a higher than normal level of testosterone (Brazilian women come to mind. They also tend to be hairier, more aggressive, have more natural muscle, and seemingly masculine qualities than women in the rest of the world).

Off topic: it's fascinating to me that Brazilians--one of the hottest classes of female on the planet--have elevated levels of testosterone, the "male" hormone.

Also, men may WANT sex, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are physically capable of doing it.
You are experiencing vast denial here. Seriously. Talk to enough men in real life about this, and you will eventually understand how wrong you are right now. Or try estimating the amount of money spent on porn, strippers, and prostitutes every day, and then draw some logical conclusions. Or look at Nevada, the only state in the U.S. where prostitution is legal. It was big news there in December when one of the "ranches" finally hired the first legal male prostitute in America. What does that tell you about supply and demand, that there is only one male prostitute working legally in Nevada, compared to all those female prostitutes? Anything? Hello?

Impotence? It's true that even healthy men aren't always capable of sex, but that they still think about it a lot, and want it a lot more than women do.
Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions.

Yes, that IS logical to conclude when you are talking about males in their prime (teens through mid 20s), which is when testosterone levels peak. After that, their levels fall, and impotency rates rise (as does baldness). Women have their sexual peak beginning usually in the mid 30s until menopause, at which time their testosterone levels drop (much later than men), so it makes sense to me that you guys are wrong about women's sex drive. Women's interest in sex just happens later than in males, but depending on how old you are, perhaps you haven't yet experienced a woman at her peak?

It tells me that women are unwilling to pay for sex.

I'm not sure how you know how often women think about sex.

Because it's been measured scientifically many times in the hundreds of studies on the difference in sex drive between men and women.

Even when women are at their peak I doubt that their testosterone levels rival men, otherwise we'd see more women in their late forties with stubble. Also if the testosterone dip that all men eventually experience led to a much lower sex drive drugs like Viagara wouldn't exist. The only reason that Viagara exists (along with its many cousins) is because despite being impotent men still want to have sex often. I see no correlation between impotence and sex drive. Impotence simply makes sex more difficult, it doesn't lessen the drive for it.

Sure it would. Men are married to women who want sex. (shrug)

I think the girls here are being reactionary. When you say, "Guys want sex more than girls do," they hear: "Girls hate sex." No matter how much concrete evidence there is to support a statistical claim, some people just hate generalizations. Maybe they feel dehumanized, in a way, when they can be categorized like that, despite the fact that generalizations allow exceptions to the rule. I'll never get that; I'm just a fan of facts.
