State of Arizona Passes Law to Check Immigration Status

I'm glad to see someone finally address this problem. Maybe now it'll finally get the attention it deserves.

    F*ck Greece, f*ck Iraq, f*ck Afghanistan.

It's about time we turned our eyes in.

Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel

Obviously, you've never read up about the history of the US and the Spanish presence leading up to the Revolutionary War and beyond, Mish.

Those people are Americans too and the US has an obligation to extend true freedom, free borders, and free markets to all. The original USA was a concept. The current version, a falsehood... bringing a watered down version of democracy without republic values to the world where and when it suits.

It's time for Americans to reacquire some testicular and intestinal fortitude, like their forefathers.

I stand on the side of true Americans.

Bring the Mexican brothers and sisters home.

Yeh, I know. I'm just saying that in 100 years time US will be a Latin majority country regardless of any government policies to contain it, why fight it? It's gonna happen anyway.

I hope that eventually this will make it easier for foreign nationals to visit USA legally with a visa

It's the ultimate melting pot... as long as civil liberties don't go by the UK or Australia wayside... I'm looking forward to it.

it's a lot like nazi germany.

this gives the police the right to pull over and check the immigration status of everyone that fits the phenotype of "mexican." there are a lot of brown people here in the southwest. are we all supposed to carry cards with us that we're citizens? and if we don't have them we go to jail until it can be figured out?

    fuk arizona.

Well everybody bitches that we are becoming a socialist state yet I don't know anything more in common with Soviet Russia than to have to constantly carry papers to prove you belong where you are.
Completely baffled by a backward indication
That an inspired word will come across your tongue
Hands moving upward to propel the situation
    Have simply halted
    And now the conversation's done

This law is absolutely pointless and unethical without significant border control. This issue has to be resolved from the outside in.
The border isn't the limit, either. Mexico's economy is the root of the issue.

If it's not the Mexicans then it's the Canadians or the Russians. I can already hear the commonfolks' voice in my ear. "Those damn Russians marching right through the strait!"

I am going to a public forum tomorrow on campus, regarding immigration issues. I might even stand up and talk about it from my personal perspective. You all know they denied my girlfriend a visitor visa, right?

I just flew through LAX recently on a trip and I was shocked at how militant and oppressive things felt. Not just the security, tho that was pretty awful (yet still sloppy and inefficient). It was also generally how unwelcoming the airport staff and entire customs & immigrations process was. It was shocking enough I will avoid flying through US airports now unless absolutely necessary.

The Canadians? You don't get illegal Canadians sneaking into the US, Dopple. We command the same payrates (or more) than Americans and our economy is quite healthy. Many sectors are doing better than US ones right now. Our dollars are basically par right now.

That sucks about CityCats visa, but I'm not surprised. Visas are hard going for a lot of ppl right now, even married ones.

^^ I don't like what you say about 'married ones'. Please clarify.
