I was just wondering if it's possible to ask for someone's number, just because you want to chat with them as a friend, and not give them the impression that you want more?

That's a tough one, especially for a young'un like you. The only advice I have to give is to mention regularly that you're attracted to other girls so she doesn't get the wrong idea, but she probably will anyway.

I was thinking she'd probably get the wrong idea by me just asking. Thought about mentioning i have a gf but then she might not give me her number or not talk to me cos she'd know i'm not interested or think i am scum :/ Why is it so difficult lol?

It's difficult because most of the time boys and girls can't be platonic friends. You'd like to be the exception, but you probably aren't.

Is she a friend now, or someone you barely know and you want to be a friend?

If you are friends now, then I see no reason why she would assume you wanted more and if she passed on her number.
If you aren't friends, then she's gonna be suspicious as to why you want the number.

You're going to have to risk it by saying you're interested in other girls or fib and say you have a gf or a crush whatever.
