Will the distance end our relationship?

Hi,

So I started dating this guy in Jan and he left for Australia a month later for the next 10 months. We fell in love and have been working really hard on trying to make this relationship work (talk on msn, skype...etc). Anyway, I am a teacher and he is currently pursuing his teaching certificate in Australia. I have gotten this great chance to go to England to teach for the year. My bf comes home in December and I'll be home then too for Christmas, but then I will have to head back to England shortly after. I will be gone for another 7 months. Should we continue trying to make something work? What are your guys experiences with long distance relationships? Should we maybe end it now and try something out when I come back?
