    Power Tends to Corrupt, Etc.

This is what happens when a political party holds a supermajority...the party quickly discovers that some (or several) of its members are fascist bastards (minus the swatika).

Who are you? Who are you?

I saw that earlier - I would have shoved him off of me. I don't care who you are, don't ever grab me like that.

This is not exactly what corruption of power is.
This is just a dumb congressman, one of the democratic henchmen, pushing some stupid kid, some troublemaker out of his way.
Maybe if those dumbasses weren't waving cameras in his face and making off camera gestures to him, this wouldn't have happened.

Who gives a shit, though? He didn't hurt anyone. He didn't embezzle any money. He didn't molest innocent children.

If anything, this guy just gave himself just a little more power and a little more recognition. Imagine how many people will be looking up his credentials and policies, as well as his website after seeing this vid?

Fascist. Berserk. Crazy. Assault. Totalitarian government. Shocking.

Got to love the style of celebrity journalism.

He was probably having a bad day.

I'd be irritated too, if a bunch of snarky college students started waving a camera in my face asking me instigative questions.

Yeah, no questions should be asked of an elected politician. They should just be left alone to do what they want.

Love the way he says, "Who are you?" Put a pair of sunglasses on him and a Stetson and he becomes a white racist sheriff in the South in the 1950's..."Who are you, boy?"

He sounds like an ass, but he does have every right to ask who the hell is pushing a camera into his face.

CAM, how would you react if Michael Moore and a cameraman approached you that way?

Of course he has a right to ask, but he has no right to assualt the person. How would I feel if Michael Moore pushed a camera in my face? I guess it would mean that I've arrived as a political, social or economic elite in our world/society. Would I like it? No. Would I expect it? Yes. Would I assualt Michael Moore? No. If I didn't want to be questioned, would I just walk on? Yes. I don't care if he had a bad day or not. I have plenty of good and bad days but I don't invade other people's physical being.

I do agree he should have had more restraint. He seemed drunk or hungover, actually. But at what point is the student's behaviour considered an infringement of the congressman's rights?

Filming him and his underage children and posting it on youtube? Throwing rotten eggs or shoving a pie into his face? Deliberately blocking his path on a sidewalk?

If the students had any brains they would ask the congressman ON CAMERA why his office has refused any of their requests for a meeting to discuss their issues. They would be able to say they represent 'organization X' and have been trying to open a dialogue with him that has been refused.

Then I might respect the position of these students more. But have they done any of this?

People have no problem complaining about politics, but how many of those complainers actually become informed on the issues AND VOTE?

Those kids were obviously looking for trouble.

This is why you hire body guards and henchmen to do the dirtywork for you - they will take the fall, then.

Does this mean that Shia LeBeouf is a fascist, too?
