My guy best friend

I have 2 best guy friends, and we get on great, i have a long term boyfriend, everythings all good.
But just now weve been talking (one of my best guy friends... ill call him J) about a quiz show and beatign eachother at it, he beat me by about 10 points last time, and i HATE too loose, so i said next time i come over, (this friday) ill bring it again, and we can play eachother again.

Then the conversation went down like:

J: "well i beat D (this friend of his who HATES me) at trival pursuit 8 times!"
ME: "well d’s intelligence is surely no reflection on me? were different people?"
J "yeah shes more intelligent than you"
ME: "what?"
J "yeah and?"
ME:"why did you just say that?"
J "its the truth"
ME: "but thats really mean, why would you say that?"
J: "you need too get over yourself and realise you need too acccept the truth, shes better than you."

what the hell?

This girl bullied me for ages, and he NEVER stuck up for me, and proceeded to have a go at me for being mean about her, so i aplogised, but he never said anything too her...

Why is he suddenly being so mean too me?

i told him too stick his opinion, but im so upset ! i dont think he even gives a crap!
