Months later and i still feel guilty from a controlling relationship

I feel incredibly guilty about a ex i dated who was very controlling. He always put me down, everything was my fault, he told lies to my face and shoved me around physically. When we broke up ,he was telling me he loved me and the next sentence he was calling me a whore etc.. He would promise he would change & wait for me then go out to the bars with other women. So i do not feel bad about leaving him because he obviously was very manipulate. Today, i saw him with my new boyfriend and i feel guilty that he saw me happy. He always played that he would be so lost without me and that he couldn't handle another break up etc.. just very immature , so i should know he is putting on a show. Everyone tells me to get over it and i am so much happier but that isn't enough. I want to know why i feel guilty if he can't treat woman right?

You've had a history together. That's always part of the equation. Besides, you've put up with a lot of his crap before so you got used to it. Don't get carried away by it.
