Friday night I finally went out with this girl that I've had this crush on for awhile

At first I thought she wasn't going to come because she was like an hour late, but it turned out she got lost trying to find where I live. The mall was closed for the night so we decided to go ahead to the movies. I found out that she smokes; I didn't know that about her. It took about half an hour to find the movie theater, and when we bought our tickets we had an hour+ of time to waste, so we just drove around for most of the time. We went to Best Buy, played around with the cameras and stuff in there; then decided to get something to eat. Chick-fil-a was closed so we went to Taco Bell instead; at this time the movie was about to begin so we drove all the way back. When we left Taco Bell she somehow ended up on the wrong side of the road driving into oncoming traffic, it was so freaking hilarious.

We watched Dinner for Schmucks -- Toy Story 3 wasn't playing anymore that night. It was an alright movie, Steve Carrel is awesome. After the movie we decided to go home as it was 1am and we left at around 8:30. She said she had fun and told me to message her when we can hang out again. Her dad is leaving this week and she doesn't have a job so it'll be tough for her to get money to pay for her movie tickets whenever we go again. I'll send her a message in a couple weeks (probably Monday or Tuesday) to set something up for Friday night so we can see The Last Exorcism and go to the mall beforehand. I have to admit it was kind of awkward being with her. I mean, we did joke around a bit but I couldn't like think of anything funny or whatever to say; I need to work on that, a lot. When we do hang out again I'm going to buy me a little bit of alcohol to loosen up a bit.

I still kind of have a crush on this girl, but now that we've finally gone out I'm not as infatuated with her as I was before. Right now I'm just trying to find out more about her, get to know her better, and just be a good friend for her. But, I'm still going to flirt with her when I see her. A mutual friend of ours is having a birthday party next week; maybe I'll see her there.

So, it was an okay night.

I really need some help on how to keep a conversation going. When she was driving to the theater she did ask me questions (nothing really personal or anything though) and I just kind of agreed with her, like I just said "yeah", "cool", and "haha i know man". Like, I couldn't think of anything to say. After the movie when she was driving me home I asked her some questions (have you seen this show, etc) and she kind of laughed and said yeah. It's hard for me to start and keep a conversation going. When we do go out again I really need to step it up a lot, I just need some advice on how to proceed in doing this.

Just be more observant of the things she likes, best is if she likes the same things that interest you, but be yourself and don't stress. Everything's going well, congrats!

    Thanks!
We've agreed to hang out again next Wednesday. I want to go to the movies again but she says she won't have any money and it'd be tough for her to pay me back. I've told her not to worry about paying me back at this time, for her to pay me back when she does get the money, but she just won't budge. I need to convince her somehow to let me pay for her; I really want to see Toy Story 3. So, we're just going to the mall and wherever else. Need some ideas for what we can do.

Happy for you! Sounds like it went well. The initial awkwardness is to be expected since you did harbor strong feelings of attraction to her. But it'll be much better the next time around. Be yourself, and just try to find common ground. Maybe ask her what hobbies she has or what other movies she's seen. Conversations about movies are always entertaining and certainly get you two on a really comfortable level.

It's ironic that you have such a problem coming up with random bullshėt to talk about. You did a fine job here.

To prove this, I've fixed your post to only include the bare necessities:

As for your problem: take a couple doses of Viagra and speed 45 minutes before your next date.

Earlier I sent her a message to see if she wanted to go bowling; this is what happened.

me (4:34): I'm thinking we could go bowling. I'll pay for it so don't worry about that. Let me know if you want to do it.
her (9:01): Something happened at home. I don't think its best for me to go. I may be going to Virginia sooner than expected. I want to get away from here as soon as I can.
me (9:05): Why can't you go?
her (9:06): I don't wanna talk about it
me (9:07): I understand that. Can we do it tomorrow or Saturday, instead?
me (9:17): Nevermind that. I really do want to hang out with you again but if you can't then it's alright. Whatever's happening at home, I really hope that you can pull through it, man. Please reply back to me.
her (10:58): Thank you for understanding.
me (11:25): Of course man. You don't have to tell me what's happening at home, that's your business and not mine. I hope you have a fun time up there; anywhere else has got to be better than here. When you get back I hope we can hang out again; I had a lot of fun last time. I look forward to getting to know you more dude. Get back to me.

So, we're not gonna be able to hang out next week. I don't know when she's coming back here. Sometime during the week I'll send her a message asking how she's liking it there, and try to keep a conversation going while she's there, to hold us up until we do hang out again.
