Post-first date advice

I'll summarise this as much as possible to get to the point:

I met a girl on a dating site, and we've been emailing each other for the past few weeks on Facebook. We finally met for a date yesterday.

The issue I have that I need help with was that I want a relationship, but I'm not sure if she got that. When I spoke to friends (male and female), they all said that the best first dates are when you go as friends, then you can see if you like each other (rather than trying to force something romantic). That's what happened. But, how can I make it more obvious for next time?

On a related topic - should I text her and say how much I enjoyed our meeting? I've been sort of told that this is the right thing to do.

Appreciate your advice on this.

Whats the rush? You've been out once. How about you continue to talk, over the phone, no emails. Make another date and see what happens. You dont know for sure if shes looking for a relationship, more importantly you dont want to scare her off.

send her a txt to tell her you had loads of fun and that she's a great girl then see what she replies. since you've sent her a txt, let her be the one to next contact you on facebook chat, email, whatever.
