Stupid feelings?

Hi guys, I'd like you to tell me if i'm being stupid for feeling such a way.

Basically, my best friend moved over to Ireland, and over the weekend I went and visited him.

A few months ago, my friend told me about this girl (who is from ireland but goes to university near to me in england) who is friends with his girlfriend, and he and a few others said how well suited we would be and that we are each other's type. In this time we briefly 'facebooked' and I realised that I actually probably do like this girl (if i met her properly) and I often thought about her a lot and asked my friend about her.

When I was there I was looking forward to meeting her at partys and social gatherings etc, but unfortunately she couldn't make it to them. So now I feel disappointed. Maybe I just got my hopes up too much, especially as now I won't have a chance to go back until at least christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about what I feel or what I should do? I feel really stupid for pinning such hopes on a silly situation

there'll be other times to meet her. and we all get our hopes up at times so don't feel stupid.
