For those who don't know me I've been with my bf for 3 and a half years and it's been wonderful. Last night out of nowhere he told me he had a gift for me. I'm thinking a cute book, a cheesy movie or the like. He brought me a little blue box. I still didn't clue in. I thought well, he's not going to propse- I'm in school it must just be earings. I opened it and it was a ring, I still thought it must just be a really nice promise ring. He's even kneeling in front of me. He starts telling me quite nervously and fast how I'm perfect, he loves me and can't imagine life without me, will I marry him? I just nod yes. I'm still shocked. FOR REAL? I was barely crying at all!
Anyways I'm very happy, still soaking it in and surprised, very, very surprised!
The ring: nothing matters besides him ensuring the diamond was conflict free and it is. A diamond backed by the Kimberly process and mined, cut and polished in Canada.
I'm a happy little camper

Yeah, you don't see it very often... That guys give engagement ring before talking about it with the girl before. I mean today people engage but it's more like " hmm let's engage ,we get an engagement ring later"

That is great. I'm glad he actually surprised you because you only get that chance once. I'm also glad to see that you're not trying to put yourselves in the poorhouse just to have an extravagant wedding. Keep it fun and simple and you guys won't be arguing about money for the first few years of marriage like so many couples do.
