Not having sex in public isn't a religious thing. It's a moralistic thing.

Yes, we are animals, but what seperates us from all the other ones is that we have a high sense of intellegence, awareness, morals and creativity. We would know that ruining a crop of veggies would ruin a source of food for people, but elephants and rhinos wouldn't know that. A mosquito doesn't realise it's passing AIDS or HIV to people when it bites people, and a dog would have to be trained to do tricks to earn food from people instead of realising it by itself.

Like animals, people can get possessive about their privacy and their relationships(on a basic level). They want don't want other women or other men to move in on their man, especially when they are sharing a special moment. And who would want anyone else to have the privilege of seeing the person they care about naked??? I doubt very many. The privacy and full attention they have for each other would only be disrupted in public by other people desperate, competitive, curious or mean. In the animal kingdom, deer males fight with their antlers to compete for a female deer, and peacock males display their wonderful tail feathers and proably do a daft mating dance to encourage a female to become intimate with them. There isn't much else intimacy left once people are naked, so it would become a rather aggressive atmosphere if people had public sex. Maybe not in the same way animals fight, but the feelings would still be there.

P.S. There's people who are probably willing to have sex in public. Surely it's people's own choice if they do or don't. Why should a post asking why people do what they do change people's free will??
