I'm currently reading The Strain by Guillermo DelToro and Chuck Hogan. A nice that I found by accident.

Heard about China Mieville quite recently, has anyone read his work?

Perdido Street Station was okay. Some interesting ideas but the pacing was odd.

I really enjoyed The Scar, for so many cool ideas. The Probability Sword, the Armada, the vampire, and especially the Scar.

I didn't like Iron Council at all. The politics bored me, and the story itself was sluggish. I did like the idea of the train going wherever due to the ongoing construction and recycling of the train track materials. I haven't read anything else by Mieville since Iron Council.

Thanks for this V. I just purchased PSS on Ebay and looking forward to reading it. If I like it I'll pick up The Scar (Ohhh vampire? Cool!).

I used to live in both Minneapolis and St Paul. Which are you originally from?

Born in Minneapolis. Grew up in Indianapolis. Moved back to the Twin Cities in the '90s and currently live in Saint Paul. I love it here.

    But women aren't from Venus.

They're from another Solar System altogether.

I started reading Solar a month ago but got distracted with the current book I'm reading. How are you finding it?

Bhagavad Gita, New Translation by Stephen Mitchell. Just started it so I can't really give an opinion so far. I also just got Biirth of Tragedy by Nietzsche.

    Anyway...

I started reading Frank Herbert's "God-Emperor of Dune" today (That's Dune 4 for those of you unaware of Frank Herbert's genius).

Frank Herbert's Dune (the original novel) was my third favourite book when I was little (after Iliad/Odyssey and the twelve chairs), but I never really did read all of the consecutive stories. Well now I can and I feel like a little kid again. The world of Arakis, the water of life, the spice melange, Kwisatz Haderach and the axolotl tanks are calling me back.
Bleah... I liked Dune quite a bit, forced myself to plow through Dune Messiah, and was unable to finish Children of Dune. Gave up on the series after that.

Right now I'm reading George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones.

I loved Dune, in fact I may have to reread it. I did the same with Dune Messiah, was difficult to finish and didn't bother with the rest of the series. Been hearing a LOT about Game of Thrones, what's the skinny on it?

I just started The Wooden Sea by Jonathan Carroll.
